WARRANTS OF FITNESS
REGULATIONS GOVERNING RENEWAL Many motorists are in doubt as to the regulations governing the issue and renewal of warrants of. fitness. In order that owners of cars and other types of. vehicles may have a clearer idea as to their responsibilities in this direction we print a summary of the conditions under which warrants must be renewed.
Regarding vehicles registered under Class 4 of the Motor Vehicles Insurance (Third Party Risks) Regulations i.e. private motor cars bearing the sticker with the letters car printsticker with the letters CAR printed thereon, the warrant of fitness, as with all W.O.F.S issued is for six months duration only. If however at the end of six months the above type of vehicle lias travelled less than 2,000 miles a new warrant is not. necessary the duration of the old one being extended to twelve months. No warrant of fitness is allowed to extend for longer than this period. At the end of twelve months the warrant must be renewed. The mileage covered in the second period of six months is not taken into consideration as long as the limit of 2,000 miles in the first six months is not exceeded.
In the case of all other vehicles including motor cycles,. trailers and all trade vehicles, the duration of the warrant of fitness issued is for six months only and must, be re,newed at the end of that period. Business; cars (i ; e. cars bearing the sticker carrying the printed letters 8.C.) come under the second heading. Warrants for this class of vehicle must be. renewed every six months.
