JUNE-JULY PERIOD

85 OCCUPIED BEDS

The figures for the Whakatane Hospital were supplied last week by the secretary,, Mr A. Bridger, and showed the gravity of the overcrowding of the wards.

The daily average since, the Ist July amounted to 85.8 occupied beds. In June there were 44 male patients and 45 female patients, at the beginning of the month. During that period, there, were 100 discharges (36 males and 64. females). There were two deaths—l male and 1 female.

July opened with 89 patients, 48 males and 41 females. There, have been 26 births (16 males and 10 females) .

Operations amounted to major 4; minor 25.
