COUNTY RATES
Sir, —In the past, but I hope this -will not continue, our County Councils have been the willing tools of Party politics no matter which Party is in power. To-day however, there is a change coming over the people, and there, is a definite enquiry as to why there should be this continual rise in taxation and borrowing of Foreign capital for municipal and other requirements. When there are men and material the costs can be met by the free issue of treasury notes being free issue on the peoples credit, representing goods and services. This would represent payment by "national authority." Being the country's credit it returns to where it came from and is cancelled out. And may I ask why should the farmer be loaded with this exclusive Land Taxation on those amenities of national use which othe.r members of the community are getting free? Councillor McCready took up the matter in a most convincing manner r and I hope that our County Councillors when next the subject of free money comes up they will have, gained sufficient, knowledge to be able to grasp the situation without hesitation, and present a determined front. f Yours etc., W. BRADSHAWi.
