LEAGUE OF MOTHERS.

<». WHAKATANE BRANCH MEETS The monthly mooting of the League was held in Knox Hall on Tuesday, June 29. Mrs Gartshore, president, was in the chair, and there, was a fair attendance of members and friends. The president opened ths meeting with the reading of the Rules and Objects of the League, the Members prayer and prayers for peace. After the routine business had been disposed of, the Rev. H. Hogg gave a very interesting talk pointing out the importance of the influence women yielded in the home and the training of their children. The power of their influence was a thing that no woman had any idea of, and the speaker stressed the importance of this power, quoting various writers and leaders from Biblical times through the ages. Mr Hogg was warmly thanked for his address. Mrs Larmer then rendered several violin solos, and was encored several times. Afternoon tea was dispensed by two members of the committee, after which the meeting closed with the National Anthem.
