ROWING CLUB DANCE

GAY FRIDAY EVENING

A very successful dance was sponsored by the Whakatane Rowing Club on Friday evening, a fair section of the dancing public turning out to dance the hours away to the music supplied by the Benedict's Orchestra. The floor was in excellent condition for all types of dancing and the crowd thoroughly enjoyed themselves from start to finish. Mr "Taffy" Atkinson held the position of Mi„C. and performed the duties in a very capable manner, there being no dull interludes whatsoever. A. very enjoyable supper was served by the Ladies' Committee and its popularity was evidenced by the manner in which it was made to disappear. Novelty dances were won as under:—Monte Carlos: Mr Bill Rivett and Mrs J. D. Rivett; Miss Isobel Sullivan and partner. A competition drawn was won by Mr Dick Heatlicote with Mr Bill Hanham second. Dancing continued till a late hour.
