As we are now into • the shortest period of daylight, it will be necessary for all players to get out early, so as to be able to make; an early start and complete their rounds before dark- Gentlemen will note that it is not very often that we have the pleasure of playing with the ladies, and therefore it will be up to us to make the foursome an enjoyable one for all concerned. The first road to attaining this goal is to be early on the spot. Let us all-this: once unite in making this Canadian Foursome a memorable one in the social life of the club. Major Honour I, have omitted to publicly record the wonderful shot played by Mrs Berg in holing out in one at the short 14th on June 10. It's a long time since we've had one; and didn't the club acknowledge it by the happy manner in which the event was celebrated. It was not only a case of "Drink to me only with thine eyes." Mrs Berg: best of. "Here's a health to all good lasses, Merrily, merrily, fill your glasses And let the bumper toast go round " Heartiest congratuations were showered on the offender, and her health drunk with the usual musical honours. Open Day Members are reminded that Te Puke will be holding an open day on Sunday, 25th June. Competitions include a 36 hole medal, gross and handicap Bogey and Stableford Bogey for morning and afternoon respectively. Take own lunch but tea etc. will be provided. Anv club member who thinks that he. would be attending the tournament and will be able to take his car with a load of players would Ije please contact the club captain. Intersectional Matches All matches in connection with the above will be deferred till next Saturday. Fortune Cup Qualifying The qualifying round for the For- ; tune, Founders and Consolation Cups will be played on July Bth. This consists of 18 holes medal, and players qualifying in the nett medal handicap first 16 for the Fortune Cup, the next 16 for the Founders Cup and the rest for the Consolation. Cup. Match play is on handicap.
