COPPER TRAIL

POLISH RED'CROSS RELIEF FUND The copper trail held on Saturday morning in the Strand by the Junior Red Cross in aid of the Polish Red Cross Relief Fund was a great success and was well supported, by the public of Whakatane. Pennies; rolled in at a great rate all moaning till by dinner time the long brown lines on either side of the street stretched almost from the Rock to the R.M. Office. It was gratifying to note that the public of Whakatane gave freely of all the loose change they possessed! at the moment, many people contributing to both trails on either side of the street. The amount collected for the fund from this alone amounted to £19 4s. Another copper trail was also held at. the infant school last week when the tots contributed a further £2 17s sd. The effort on the part of the girls of the Junior Red Cross was outstanding, and thanks should be extended to them for the work they put into making the penny trail the great success it was.
