"Necessity V* Necessity is the mother of invention, and at the present time, among the younger generation, a top to whip is an absolute necessity; so much soi in fact that one loses cast if one does not possess a top. As the supply of these is strictly limited, mainly for financial reasons, the kiddies' i-ngenuity is put to a severe test, to create a substitute. The most popular stand-in. appears to be a pine-cone for the top and a piece of flax on a slick for a whip. On a hard surface, this will serve equally as well as any factory made top.
