OPOTIKI ANNUAL MEETING The annual meeting of the Opotijvi Branch of the New Zealand National Party was held on May 25, there being a very good attendance of members. In the absence through illness of the chairman, Mr F. J. Short, the. meeting was presided over by Mr E. C. East. In a letter to the meeting, Mr Short expressed his satisfaction at the results of the general election and thanked the members of the organisation for the good work they had put in. Mr H. H. Barker of Gisborne, who has been appointed organiser in the electorate, gave an interesting address in which he fully explained his methods of organisation, and answered a number of questions. The election of officers resulted as follows:— Chairman: Mr F. J. Short (reelected). Secretary-Treasurer: Mr E. C. East (re-elected). Delegates to Electorate Committee: Chairman, Secretary, Mrs,V. E. Wilson, Messrs E. J. Baigent and J. T. Clark. A large and representative committee was elected. Mr W. Sullivan, M.P., in a short address, gave a resume of the work done by Parliament during the recent Session.
