REVIEW OF FORM
BOROUGH COUNCIL STAKES SHORT PRICED FAVOURITE GETS HOME \ (By Rail Sitter) Tall Timber justified the confidence placed in him by the sporting public when he came home a length in front of Leaky Tap in the Borough Council Stakes on Saturday. Heavy rain fell throughout" the day and 4 the track was very heavy, but in spite of this the public enjoyed a good day's sport. * From an excellent start Electricity and Cricket Bat took up the running from Automobile, Radio Call, Spilt Ink, Little River, Tall Timber, Leaky Tap, Heraldry, Tin Tack, Lawful, Auctioneer, Paper Pulp with Theodolite last. First time past the stand Spilt Ink stum* bled over a rubbish tin and lost ground, otherwise the position remained unchanged. Going out of the straight with a mile to go Radio Call and Harris Tweed joined the leaders with Automobile just in behind. Down the back the order was Radio Call, Harris Tweed, Automobile on the rails having the run of. the race, Little River, Heraldry moving fast, Leaky Tap, Tall Timber Lawful and Auctioneer with Cricket Bat heading the rest. At the fives Paper Pulp shied at a piece of card-, board and checked Theodolite who was commencing a run from the rear of the field, both horses losing any chance they may have had. Radio Call was first into the straight from Harris Tweed and Automobile with Leaky Tap and Heraldry putting in a fair run. Half way down it was Harris Tweed from Automobile, Radio Call, Heraldry, Leaky Tap Avith Tall Timber flying on. the outside. Tall Timber came on to win comfortably by a length from. Leaky Tap with Heraldry a head away third, followed by Harris Tweed, Automobile, Radio Call, Lawful, Auctioneer, Little River with Cricket Bat just out of a place.
Racing Notes Heavily supported by the public the first three horses ran an excellent race and will win again when, produced. Harris Tweed and Radio Call are two very promising light weights and with a littfe more experience will win some good races. Automobile ran well above his form shown in his track work and galloped very soundly. He. appears to relish heavy, going. Lawful ran a sound race but is now getting up in the weights. Auctioneer pulled up very lame and will need to be put on the easylist for some time. Little River was a very tired horse at the end of the mile and a half and will need to get some weight off before he gains the- thick end of the purse.
Spilt Ink did not gallop freely and any chance he had was spoilt when he stumbled over the rubbish, tin. Cricket Bat riui a fair race but failed to see out the journey. This horse'will improve with age. Electricity, Tin Tack, Paper Pulp and Theodolite are not stayers and should do better over a shorter distance. Their performance must have been a disappointment to their sup-* porters,
