WEDDING BELLS
PAYNE —MURGATROYD A quiet wedding recently took place at St. George's Church, Whakatane, between Flight Sergeant Ron Payne of-Wellington, and Miss Gwenda Murgatroydf of Whakatane. The bride who was given away by her father looked charming in a slightly trained gown of cream embossed georgette, her long veil fell from a top knot of orange blossom. She carried a bouquet of cream roses, dahlias and maiden hair fern. The bridesmaid was Miss Margaret McKenna, .of Tauranga, who was daintily attired in a long frock of clematis blue desire crepe, her bouquet was of pale pink roses and dahlias. The best man was Mr Rue Payne, of Waitara. A dainty little flower girl in an ankle length blue net frock, Miss Estelle Ross, neice of the bride, completed the picture. . The reception was held aiJ 63 Domain Road, the residence of ~Mr and Mrs A. G. Allan, where many friends from Rotorua and Tauranga gathered to farewell the bride and groom. The young couple left for a short tour of the East Coast, the bride travelling in a smart pin stripe navy costume, with hat and accessories to. tone. Flight Sgt. Payne, is shortly to leave for overseas duties. Among those jaresent. were Rev. and Mrs Wilson; Mrs McKenna, Tauranga; Mr and Mrs F. T. Briggs, Tauranga; Mrs Byrne, Rotorua; Mrs J. Davis, Rotorua; Mrs C. Ross; Mr and Mrs l J. McGlone, Rotorua; Mr and Mrs Dillicar; Mr R. Payne, Otaki; Mr and Mrs F. Power; Mrs P. Ellis; Misses Tui Keenan; Ngaire Alexander; Heather Reynolds.
