All interesting geographical point was raised at the last meeting of the Whakatane County Council when the Chairman, Mr J. L. Bur-' nett, was remarking on the fact that no place for a polling booth had been declared at Nukuhou. The point arose when Cr McGougan inquired: "Where is this Nukuhou!" Dead silence followed, but it was not long before Mr McGougan was in full possession of the facts concerning the exact geographical position of Nukuhou. Overloaded Bicycle In the. present days of the cycle shortage, it is taken for granted that one machine should do the work of two, but when it comes to four, something is bound to happen. Townspeople were amused on Monday during the dinner hour to see four youths all mounted on one cycle, progressing slowly down the Strand. Things ran smoothly till they turned the corner by the Whakatane Hotel, when the front wheel with a sound not unlike a despairing so!j, gave up the ghost and took unto itself a puncture in the form of a blowout. Four bodies speedily, if somewhat inelegantly dismounted, and lour pairs of eyes reflecting horror and annoyance were turned upon the machine which was quietly wheeled away for extensive repairs. Tripoli and Beyond It is seldom that two writers link their names on the same book jacket when, in fact, only one did the writing; yet this is so in the case of the latest work on the New Zealanders in the Middle East, entitled "Tripoli and Beyond." So closely on the heels of that epic story of the New Zealanders in the Desert Campaigns "Kiwi Saga," does it follow that the two writers, Furneaux Martyn and Martyn Uren have linked their names as the two books together cover the whole story of the Kiwis in* the battle, areas. For those who read "Kiwi Saga/' "Tripoli and Beyond" will complete the story, while lor those who did not read the first book., "Tripoli and Beyond" supplies a graphic picture of front line lighting, and the spirit of our men in action.
