EVENING AT TANEATUA
PTE. FREDA TEBBUTT FAREWELLED A largely attended dance was held in the Taneatua Hall on Monday to farewell Pte. Freda Tebbutt V.A.D. The Young People's Orchestra provided excellent music and Monte Carlos were won by E. Watene and partner and M.. Hogan and partner, while Mr T. Doolan and Pte Tebbutt had a popular win in the Statue Waltz. After supper had been served, Mr G. Yeoman made a presentation to Pte Tebbutt on. bclialf of the Farewell Committee and in the course of his remarks made mention of. the fact that the. Tebbutt family were very old residents of the district and had already sent two sons overseas one being a prisoner of war in Germany and the other serving in the. Middle East Forces. Tebbutt will be the first girl from the Taneatua district to give service overseas. Miss Tebbutt briefly and very suitably replied. Musical honours were accorded her. Dancing continued till a late hour.
