BOWLING SEASON CONCLUDES FINAL TOURNAMENT PLAYED The final week-end play under the Whakatane Bowling Club took place on Saturday last when a further popular 'Bughouse Fours' competition was staged and was won by A. Shaw's team with a margin of 33. The president, Mr Les Littlejohn, in a brief speech to the assembled bowlers said that the season had been a most intensive and successful one, and he hoped, thoroughly enjoyed by all members. He trusted that next fear would see the same interest and keenness. The result of the novelty competition (Bughouse, fours) was as: under:— v Doran, Bigelow, Marsh and Shaw 41 beat Butler, J, Bell, Hellyar and Lux ton 8. Wilkinson, Coates, C. Head and Burgess 32 beat Lessing, Matthews, Pearson and Rae 11. Grace, H. L. King, Murphy and Howat 32 beat T'opp, Salmon, Tippet t and Hunt 20. Head, King, Henderson and King 24 beat G. Tippett, McKenzie, Cur' rah and Baxter 18. Taylor, Carling, Sheriff and McLsaac 17 beat Wilson, Cantrell, Grant and Moody 17. Dainton, R. Wilson, Caisley and Loane 30 beat Larsen, Shapley, Darvill and Littlejohn 14. Mollgaard, Martin, Rice and Ferguson 22 beat O'Rourke, E. J. Bell, Torrie and Hollis 18. Trophies for the above were generously donated by Mr J. Gwynne. Tournament The following were the results of the 'break-up' tournament held to mark the close of the season, and for which special trophies had been donated by Messrs R. Topp and S. McLeod.
A Section: Shaw, Francis, Bennett and King 5% wins; Mclsaac, Hayward, Kempton and Daron 5; Burgess, G. Head, Salmon and Wilkinson 4; Howat, Hollis, E. J. Bell and Butler 4; Luxton, McLeod, Gee $nd J. AVilson 3%; Currali, Warner, Shapley and Carling 2; Wilso'n, Coates, Torrie and O'Rourke 2. B Section: Marsh, Rice, J. Bell and Taylor 5 wins; King, Henderson, McKenzie and Campbell 4%; Harris, Caisley, C. Head and Merito 4; Baxter, Grant, Berg and Grace 4; Hunt, Pearson, Rixon and Gwynne' 3; Loane R. Murphy, Martin and ,Topp 2%. Final: Shaw, Francis, Bennett and L. King won from Marsh, Rice, J. Bell and Taylor.
