OLD ORGANISATION REVIVED INAUGURAL MEETING HELD The inaugural annual meeting meeting of the Whakatane Beautifying Society Avas held on Wednesday evening The draft rules submit tod AA'ere adopted. Office bearers for the coming year AA T ere elected as follows: Patron, Mr W. Sullivan, M.P.; President, Mr J. Creeke; Vice-president, Mr G. R. Kent; Hon Secretary and Treasurer, Mr R. F. Smith; Committee, Messrs G. Brabant, G. R. Dillicar, C. L. Jordan, S. 11. Tippett and H. G. Warren: Auditor, Mr G. J. Thomas. Mr Dillicar agreed to donate prize money for three prizes for the best essay open to scholars in Whakatar.e on the subject "How best to beautify Whakatane," the conditions for same to be draAA-n up by the executive. A competition promoted by Mr C. L. Jordan in aid of. the funds realised £5 7s, the winner being Mr Reuben.
