-o — WEEK-END GAMES The beautifully settled week-end weather made bowling a popular pastime in Whakatane and the local greens were well patronised. A novelty competition (Bughouse Fours) caused considerable entertainment and not a little; sarcasm and chaff. The winners were, those with the widest disparagment between their opponents and the laurels; went without question to O'Rourke, E. J. Bell, Francis and Currah who notched a difference of no less: than 26 points. Details of the. play were as under:— O'Rourke, E. J. Bell, Francis and Currah 38 beat Danton, Wilson, Salmon and Caisley 12. Grace, Garling, Drube, and McLsaae 26 beat Topp, Creeke, Shaw and Baxter 19. J. Wilson, Bigclow, Head and Harris 24. beat Brec'kon. McKenzie, Hayward and Burgess 18. Taylor, H. L. King, Hellyar and Marsh 27 beat Dickson, Mcintosh, Alexander and Hollis 20. Coates, Darvill and McLeod 24 beat Butler, Martin, Murphy and A. King 23. Shapley, Bell, Grant and Howat 24 beat. Wilkinson, G. Head, Pearson and Loanc 21. Smith Stars Baxter, Grant, Caisley and Sloane (challengers) 19 beat Mcftitosh, Martin, Henderson and Littlejohn (holders) 16.
