OTAKIRI PATRIOTIC COMMITTEE
ANNUAL MEETING HELD
The annual meeting of the; Otakiri Patriotic Committee was held in the hall on Saturday, April 29. Mr W. Murray presided over a very good attendance, and welcomed members and friends. Apologies were received and the minutes of the last annual meeting read and confirmed. The 1 balance sheet was presented by the General Treasurer, Mrs L.. Gristall, this showing a very satisfao tory financial position regarding the. district's quotia.
Business was then dealt with, which was as follows:—
Social Committee: In presenting the report of the year's activities, Mr Dunning, Chairman of the Sor eial Committee, thanked all members for their help, especially the ladies of the district who through very difficult times were still able to keep up a very high standard regarding the supper for all the dances. To the Young People's; Dance Commititee he. expressed grateful thanks for their splendid donations amounting to £21 10s lOd and asked that every help and encouragement be given to their social activities. An appreciation was also expressed to Mrs King of. Onepu, Avho has donated an iced cake for every dance held, as a result of which the funds had benefited by £30 13s 3d.
Knitting: Mrs Woodberry, convener for Patriotic wool, reported that much knitting had been done by the district's busy women, and commented on the fact that the wool was* not weighing out to the weight specified and in consequence; the knitters were not able to get the number of articles expected from them. Ft was asked that, this matter be brought before the Zone Committee.
Patriotic Parcels: Mrs Tickner, convenor, reported the packing of 85 parcels all of which, with the exception of one pack, had contained home-made fruit cake and biscuits. Thanks were expressed to the ladies of the district, for their wonderful help in this respect and to all who helped with the packing of same. An additional 34 parcels were sent to local boys overseas, money for these being raised by special effort. Especial reference was made, of the Otakiri Women's Institute splendid donation of £15 to this fund. Prisoners of war were also remembered, cash donations being sent to their next-of-kin to forward goods to these boys. Letters of appreciation have been received. Collecting Committee: Mr W. Murray reported very satisfactory progress and the money collected by members of this committee showed that all had done good work during the past year in maintaining the standard set in. previous years. The chairman in his summing up of ithe various reports, thanked the secretary, Mrs Tickner, for her excellent work, also ithe treasurer and committee, for their loyal support during the past year.

Messrs Ashton, Armstrong, O'Brien, Cristall, Cobden, Foote, Kedgeley, Ley, Missen, Mackerell, Leslie, Steenson, Lord, Woods, Peck, Winters.
Social Committee Chairman: Mr Kedgeley. Secretary-Treasurer: Mrs Tickner. Committee: Mesdames Armstrong, CrisLall, Lord, M-ssen, Peck, Mantell, Smith, Mayo, Miss Chambers. Messrs Lord, Missen, Cristall, Arm-' strong. Peck, Foote, O'Brien, Fowler, Ley and Mackerell. Collecting Committee Convenor: Mr W. Murray. Secretary-Treasurer: Mrs W. Muray. Committee re-elected. Convenor Patriotic Parcels: Mrs Tickner. Auditor: Mr G. Murray. Representative Delegate: Mr W. Murray.
