BUTTERFAT AND LABOUR

INCREASE IN PRICE

DISSATISFIED FARMERS

The increase of 1.21 d per pouno of butterfat. for the coming season, as an allowance to farmers -in re-, spect of the additional cost of labour, was adversely criticised by several members of the Auckland Provincial Executive, of the New Zealand Farmers Union at the monthly meeting on April 19. Mr W. P. Begg (Arapohue), moved and Mr J. H. Furniss (vice-pre-sident) seconded: "That this Executive is of the opinion that the 1 figure of 1.21 d for butterfat, fixed for labour reward, for the forthcoming dairy season- is much too low, and that it will result in the farmer having to pay out under the new scale more than he receives for every 6000 lbs of butterfat produced. This can only result in a further diminution of output." The motion was carried unanimously.
