SCOUT CAMP

BASIC TRAINING COURSE

The first basic training course for Scoutcrsi to be held in the Bay of Plenty took place at Tauranga over the Easter week-end when Scoutmasters and Patrol Leaders' from the various troops attended and camped on the Tauranga 'Racecourse which had been kindly placed at their disposal. Scoutmasters from the Whakatane Scottish, Aw alter i, Gate Pa, Bethlehem, Tauranga Land and Tauranga Sea troops attended and a most interesting and instructive time eventuated for all .ranks.

The full meaning and teaching of the Scouting code was covered by a series' of lectures and practical demonstrations, spread over day and night sessions. As a result all who attended must have gained a lasting benefit which should lead to a uni* formity of Scout training throughout the whole district.
