FURTHER RATIONING
POSSIBILITY IN DOMINION further reductions SUPPORTED Further rationing of foodstuffs in order to increase the quantities available for export to Britain was advocated at a special meeting of the Wellington branch of the Ro3 r al Society and the Wellington branch of the Royal Society of St. George. The following resolution was adopted unanimously:— "That members of the branch realising the importance of the earnest appeals made by the leader of the British food mission during his visit to New Zealand for the purpose of obtaining increased meat, butter and cheese for the United Kingdom, desire that the Government of New Zealand should be upheld in. its appeals to the people to support the rationing regulations.
"If the Government in its wisdom considers that it is necessary further to extend the food rationing restrictions in New Zealand, and so make additional supplies available to the United Kingdom, members of this society are prepared to support such further reductions."
