TO-MORROW'S GREAT EVENT
RECORD DAY ANTICIPATED
Its Awakeri's turn to-morrow and once again the committee responsible for the Sports and 1 the Gymkhana which last year made the whole of the Eastern Bay gasp, has set itself out to even excell its previous achievement. Once again the venue is Howell's padcfock on the main road, and 1 again a bumper programme offering record prizemoney been drawn up. The committee has this! y'ear' Set Bsclf out to attain a standard' jTI country sports meetings second to none and l from the programme advertised' (on page 8 of this issue) and 1 reports which have come to our ears there should! be no difficulty in carrying this* into effect. • Great interest is focussed l upon the £25 open jump which is propheisited will be the greatest horse event of the Gymkhana season. This is backed up by the Sheffield! handicap of £15, which can likewise lay claim to being the most remunerative flat event of the season. Awakeri will have for its public a full range of slide shows and field events, including Highland' Dancing and the usual tests of skill and 1 physical strength.
