PLUNKET GARDEN PARTY
GIFTS and donations are urgently required for the forthcoming* Plunket Garden Party to be held at Mrs K. S. Eggers residence, King Street, on Thursday next.. A confident appeal is therefore made to this end to not merely members of the Society and mothers but the public at large who are invited to assist in a cause "which defies all others in the vital nature of the work it is carrying out. Plunket organisations in this district and the splendid service which has been inaugurated here in the interests of 'Saving the Babies' have but to be contacted to be appreciated. Here is an organisation which is building quickly and efficiently for the future, moulding and cherishing the characters of future New Zealanders. It is little enough therefore that we are merely invited to assist by donation or kind in the produce, goods or cakes to be sold at a garden party.
Mayor's Statement A lengthy statement from His Worship the Mayor, regarding the flood damage, thanking workers and those who assisted and criticising those responsible for scare-stories has been, unavoidably held over owing to its late arrival.
Rag Drive oh Saturday A drive for rags which will be 'despatched for use in the Armed Forees, will lie instituted by the local Girl Guide Company on Saturday next. Residents are asked to cooperate by milking what material I they have available for the collee- [ tori when they call.
