A farmer at Le Bon's Bay rcccntly lost 10 large store bullocks from ngaio leal" poisoning when an old ngaio tree, where 14 bullocks were grazing, was blown down states the Nelson Evening Mail. These bullocks were on fern countiy and were kept short, ol" feed to eradicate the fern. It is when stock are short of feed that ngaio poisoning is most dangerous. The loss is a severe one, and the owner is taking the caution tt) cut down all the ngaios on his property.
