PATRIOTIC PARCELS

EIGHT HUNDRED FROM

DISTRICT

LAST YEAR'S PERFORMANCE!

Tlic much appreciated, gift parcels which have been going forward from this district for the past three and a half years from the various Patriotic committees reached record figures last year. As. countless letters have confirmed, the parcels are a regular god-send to the men who receive them and we feel that the district can take some genuine pride in the fact that during 1913 no less than 802 gift parcels were despatched officially from the zone, headquarters. Details of the district response in this connection were as under:— Matata 32 Manawalic '22 Thornton 3f! Ota'kiri 39 Te Tcko 4.9 lluataliuna 15 Te Whaiti 21 Edgecumbe .. I.lth April, loth July and 15th October. Commodities are now available for the February pack and the secretary suggests that such parcels be left at the County office not later than the 2Sth instant. On this occasion there is not a sufficient supply of ca'kc tins it is therefore suggested that parcels generally contain tinned commodities as are aA'ailable, viz. Oysters, CofTec and Milk, Lamb and Green Peas, Jam. Greeii Peas and P.K's. Also a limited supply of foot powder is on hand. In time for the next parcel pack, an eiuleaA'Our Avill lie made to have aA'ailable dried fruits, butler and cake tins. Commit tecs arc requested when packin'g parcels to keep _in mind that under the regulations six parcels are required to be packed in a benzine case and to comply Avith this, a compact oblong parcel is essential. Owing to the shape of some of the parcels, it has been found possible only to pack three or four parcels per benzine case in the past.
