WEDDING BELLS

McCRACKEN —SISAM

St. John's Catholic Cliurcli, Whakatane, was the scene of a, very pretty Avedding of wide interest throughout the Bay of Plenty last Saturday, when Eileen, youngest daughter of Mr and Mrs L. W . Sisam, ot King Street, was married to Frederick James Harold, second $011 of Mr and Mrs W. A. McCracken, of Fdgecumbe. The Rev. leather Curley officiated whilst. Mrs, Walter Sisam, aunt of the bride, played the wedding music. The cercmony was witnessed by a large assemblage ol' friends and relatives, of both the contracting parties. During the service Mrs NtVrman Carter, auotlier aunt of the bride, sang "Ave Maria" with very beautiful effect. The bride who was given away by her father wore a becoming gown of white satin cut on elassi-. cal lines with tight fitting bodice and gathered skirt which gave way to a full train. Her veil of tulle fell in soft folds to form a second train and she carried a bouquet of soft toning white tiger liHies, roses asparagus fern. She was attended by her neices Misses Joy and Moira Symmans as bridesmaids, who were tastefully attired in mauve and lemon respectively and carried bouquets of autumn tints. The train bearers were little Rosalie Sisam and Dena Fogerty, who wore pale green with period: 1 hats, to tone. The. role of liower girl was demurely filled by Wynne Fowler who was similarly gowned. Mr Peter Jaeobson, a cousin of the groom (on furlough) carried out the duties of best man assisted by Mr H. Sisam, brother of the bride, as groomsman. The. church which had been bcautifuly decorated by the Sisters of the Whakatane Convent with special attention to the altar made a lilting setting for the ceremony after Avhich the newly weds were received at the church door with showers of confetti from the crowd. The wedding breakfast held in the " Caledonian Hall ay as. attended by one hundred- and lil'ty guests. Here again the interior had been decorated with bowls of ilowers in soft pastel shades. The tallies ay ere beautifully laid, out Avith sweet peas and maiden hair fern. Mrs Sisam received her guc.sts in a smart black ensemble Avith hat to tone. Her bouquet was. of pink roses and dahlias. The bridegroom's mother Avas attired in mrvy Avith matching accessories and she carried, a shower bouquet of maroon dahlias. With Father Curley as toastmaster there were no dull, moments. Details of the toast list ay ere as un« der: "The Loyal Toast" Father Curley; "The 'Bride & .Bridegroom." Mr W. Roberts; "The Bride's Parents," Mr W. Sullivan; ''The Bridegroom's Parents," Mr J. Alexander: "Spinsters,' Mr Otley; "Bachelors." Mr Buddie and Mr B. Sladden; ''Absent Friends," Mr Raymond and Mr J. Stewart; "Oll'ieiating Minister," Mr Pete Sisam and Father Curley. .Following a social gathering in the evening when the guests were entertained at the home of Mr and Mrs L. W. Sisam, Mr and Mrs McCrackcn left by car for Rotorua. The. bride travelled in a smart blue linen suit Avith toning hat and I'aAYii coat. On their return they will make their future home at Rewarau, Kuatoki.
