Cannell, of Te Teko, who with his brother has established the. 80-acre vegetablegrowing venture on the Galatea road declares that practically all the work carried out on the place is by Maori (labour. Most of it is hard and monotonous but under all circumstances declared Mr Cannell, he had found the -Maoris thoroughly reliable and prepared to give an honest day's work for a reasonable return. In much of the grading, topping and bagging, Maori women were employed and. the same high testimony 'could be applied to themMr Cannell declares that as far as he is concerned the Maori labour he has experienced is as good and as responsive ;»s any he has yet hired.
