Minister's Work Praised
Congratulations were extended to the. Minister of Internal Affairs, the Hon. W. E. Parry, by the management committee ol' the newly-creat-ed New Zealand Council of Sport on the. establishment ol' physical welfare and, recreation on an organised basis in the Dominion. The committee said that Mr Parry had tirelessly laboured for many years lor the adoption of a scheme helpful to the production of the physical fitness; of thei people.
Serious Problem
When a young Maori. William Clark, aged 18, was brought before the Magistrate's Court at Auckland on a vagrancy charge, Mr J. H. Luxford, S.M., admitted him to pro-; bation for IS months on condition that he went back to his home at Whatawhata, adding: "it is a pathetic sight to see able-bodied young Maoris come before the. Court on vagrancy charges. The influx of young Maoris from the country districts to the cities is a very serious problem. Clark was one of live young Maoris to appear on similar
