Hoko described how lie had picked up the watch after lie had tramped on it in a scuttle and had taken it to a jeweller Avith tlie. intention ol" returning it when it was, mended.
"He had plenty of opportunities ol' informing Savage of its: whereabouts.," said Sergeant Farrell who prosecuted. ''He was: actually .living with him and yet he never mentioned it."
The magistrate, Mr E. L. Walton, took one look at Hoko's police record and sentenced. him to a month's imprisonment.
