COMPLIMENTARY DINNER
CRICKETERS ENTERTAINED
-YTTLULL CUP WIN
A complimentary dinner was giveii in tlio Commercial Ilotcl on Sunclay evening to mark the annexation of the Attrill Cup. Members of both teams together with oil'ieials of the two clubs were present. Mr L. R.* Spring, chairman of the Rangitaiki Cricket Association presided, and Mr J. D. Rivett acted as toastniaster. Complimentary,, references were made to the splendid exhibition of cricket put up the Rangitaiki players, it being the ob-. vious opinion of the visitors that the better team won. The toast list was as under: — '"The Rotorua Cricket Association" —Mr N. Ridden and Messrs, Nelson and Lewis: "The Ra ngi tai ki Association"—Mr H. Stevenson and Mr O. V. Marx (vice-captain); Ladies' Committee.'"—Mr G. O. Stcwa rt and. Mr A. J. Fisher: "Selectors"—■ Mr O. Laurie and Mr Mason; "Absent Cricketers"—Mr P. Anaru and Mr B. Mellor (member of the convalescent soldier's team); "The Umpires"—Mr R. Cleland and Mr A. Heather; "The Oldest Cricketer Present"- —Mr W. McKenzie and Mr S. Godsalve; "The Host and Hostess" —Mr H. Stevenson and Mr N. Brcmncr. Dn presenting the cup to L. R. Spring, captain of the Rangitaiki side, Mr T. Lewis, the Rotorua manager, congratulated the team on its win and wished it all success in the. future.
The dinner, the success ol'. which was largely due to the splendid catering of Mr and Mrs Bremner. was thoroughly enjoyed by local players and visitors alike who commented widely upon its excellence. The: At trill Cup is. now on display in the window of Messrs Bridgers Ltd
