PROSPECTS IN WHAKATANE
LOCAL ASSOC! ATI ON FORM LI) A meeting of bee keepers in Whakataue was held on Tuesday night at the school J'or the purpose of forming a local Association in connection Avith the New Zealand Bee Association. Fifteen enthusiasts Averc present, and the meeting opened Avith the election of the assn's officers. These are: Air I'. B. Hubbard, chairman; Mr C. I". Thomas, secretary; find Mr M. Law, assistant secretary. A committee of five consisting of Mrs Petty, Mrs Stubbs, Mr McMahon, Mr Dixon and Mr Allen Avas also elected, it was arranged to call the group the Bay of Plenty Bee; Association in order that it might embrace the whole of the district and not just Whakatane. Arrangements have also been made for Mr Paterson, the official. GoAcrnment apiarist for the South Auckland district, to come from Hamilton in order to j-'.ive a lantern lecture at a future date. A general discussion and exchange of information took place on the extraction and processing of honey, and disease known as foul brood. Persons interested in apiary, and who desire to join the Association, should get in touch with the secretary, Mr C. F. Thomas, e./o Cutler's Hardware Ltd.
