Subsidiary Sale At a subsidiary sale of thoroughbred mares held at Trcntham prices ranged from 35 to -123 guineas. Cancellations Owing to railway travel restrictions the meetings of the 'Win ton Racing Club and Wellington Trotting Club have been cancelled. Now Dunedin Owned Mr H. Halliday, of Dunedin, is the owner of the yearling filly by Kox.bridge—Senorita purchased at the Natonal Sales for 550gns. The Tuhoe Stud The yearlings from Messrs K. J. Savage and Sons Tuhoe Stud, Waimana, realised from 150 to 350 guineas, the latter price being for the .sole l)3 r Revelation —Belle Caste. A Mark of Progress The Tarana'ki Jockey Club has decided. to use the portable electric totalisator at its next meeting on February 2(J, which fact will be another mark of progress for the club. V Capably Ridden liisquit seared a long delayed win in the Walwvra Hurdles. He was ridden a well jv.dged race by J. H. Meßae., who has not had the best of luck since he hud a bad fall from > Stokowski last season at Kllerslie, ) when his right Imotl was badly [ fractured. '"'lt's a lojig lane that has ) no turning" so Mcßae's services will ; now be in decided'demand.
Well Earned Holiday The "Wellington Cup victor. Don Quex, is now out enjoying a well earned paddock holiday. During the season he has contested 13 races for four firsts, one second and four thirds. After Many Days The Poverty Bay gelding. Boat-; song, by Mimetic, whose last win was in a two-ihorse race at Gisborne in November. 1940. is again in active commission in view of the Poverty Bay fixture. He is now 13 years old,, and therefore fully qualified for veteran events. Laddie Boy's First / The Hon. E- Davis and Mr O!.. Nicholson's three year old Wee Laddie, scored his lirst win when ho prevailed in the Waiatarua Handicap from a good, field. T. Verner has him in excellent trim, and the win was- a popular one. Diamond King Again The Matamata owned Diamond King, followed up his Stratford .success by scoring in the Second Division of the Waiaturua Handicap. He finished on so solidly that further victories should be registered by him. Coronach's First and Second My Bonnie, and Goronaire, both by Coronach, finished first and second in the Calliope. Handicap. Goronaire Avas in front from the three furlongs mark, but in the run home My Bonnie prevailed by two lengths, making his third Avin in three starts in the last five weeks'. Volifox Triumphs I'n the Takapuna Cup. one mile and a half, there were, eleven competitors, the defections being Royal Merit, Travancore and Sir Cameron. The running Avas carried on by Water Vixen who attempted to make eAery post a Avinning one. Volifox Avas never further back than third and, Avhen called upon responded gamely to Avin by threequarters of a length from Water Vixen and Balfron. Gay Lally, Respresentative and Lea-<La\v appeared to find the distance too far.
