WHO IS RIGHT?"
Sir., —-Iti appears that the state-* ments made by Mr L. Letcaux are in direct contradiction to the National Party's election propaganda. Mr Lefeaux states that our credit in London depends on the abolition of the. guaranteed price system, a ruthless curtailment of the State housing, and a reduction to more moderate dimensions of tire Social Security Benefits. Now we will take the leader of. the Opposition, Mr S. G. Holland. 11l the report of Mr Holland's; speech in Hamilton, in the N.Z. Herald on September, 21, 1913, said : "The farmer wanted stability in the price paid for his products, and not wide variations. The National Party Mould give a minimum price and atfk the. farmer to fix the ceiling price which would represent the danger signal." This was praised by the newspapers as calculated to rescue the farmers from misery, and the Do-* minion from collapse. And now to his housing speech taken from the Christehurch Press, September 1, 1943 : "Plans for a gigantic housing scheme, not onh T to catch up on the material requirements;, but also as a major method of ensuring employment for all were outlined by Mr Holland." Now take the Social Security benefits. In the National Party's election programme, published, 28/8/43, this breath-talcing item appeared: "Social Security—all existing, benefits will be continued, and ano-? malice and injustices removed." According to Mr Holland, the sky was the limit, we have all the cre-» dit necessary., according to Mr* Lefeaux, we are bankrupt. Yours! etc., PRO LABOUR.
