A sporting par from Maadi shows the tennis figures largely in the sporting life of the Kiwis. Two leading teams in the latest' competitions were 21st Btn and 28th (Maori) Btn and the former won in an exciting play-oil". The. Avinners had a sound team headed by V. C. Moore a former Bay of Plenty singles champion. Prominent 28tli Btn players Avcre R. AVilson a Bay of Plent3 r representative,, R. Wilson and R. R. T. Young an ex-Davis Cup player. V. C. Moore, will be remembered as one of the. host forwards in the Bay. As a hooker he had few peers and he was one of the stalwarts who comprised. the great Rangitai'ki Rep. team Avhich held the Hurunui Shield for eight years. Dick Wilson is of Ruatoki, and is a son of the late Mr and Mrs G. Wilson of that district.
