PATRIOTIC COMMITTEE

ANNUAL MEETING

The annual meeting of the Waimana Patriotic Committee was held in the Waimana Hall recently. ■ There, was a very satisfactory attendance of the public. Mr Robert Wardlaw presided. The secretary, Mrs Wylde, read the minutes, and the balance sheet was read and adopted. Mr Wardlaw then gave an interesting report on the past year's and thanked all who had helped so willingly to fill the Pat-» riotic quota. He said the most outstanding function was the sports meeting, where over £500 was rais-» ed, leaving only some £20 odd to be raised to fill the quota. The welcome home dinner given to the boys who returned home, on furlough was quite successful. On behalf of the public, Mr Wylde congratulated the committee on the way the past year's activities had been so successfully earricd out. Mrs Wylde., the secretary, was congratulated on her excellent work . i which had entailed a great deal of effort and timeElection of Officers ; The election of officers, resulted as follows:— Chairman: Mr R. Wardlaw (reelected) . Secretary and. Treasurer: Mrs' Wylde (re-elected). Committee: Mr and Mrs J. 3L. Burnett, Mrs Woolfield, Mrs ML King, Mr and Mrs H. Wardlaw, Mr and Mrs N. Clark., Mr and Mrs Leather, Mrs Gallagher, Mr S. Motfrain Mr R. Axtens> Mr J. Mitchell. ,Mrs MeConnell., Mr Wylde, Mr Sterling* . Mr Heather (auditor), Mrs J.*Rssfß> Mrs Sterling, Mr N. J7 C. Macdonaid, Mr and Mrs J. Boynton. The new committee then discuss- - ed the ways and means of raising this year's; quota, and it was decided to hold another sports, meeting in March. A vote of thanks was passed to the Nukuliou North sotanl j committee whjeh. has ! contributed funds to the quota. A vote of thanks,to the chair closed the meeting.
