Mr and 1 Mrs E. Farrelly,. of Manawahe, have received intimation that their son, Flight Sgt. R. J. Farrelly, who was) previously reported l missing 1 is now officially presumed to have lost his life in. air operations over Germany. Flight Sgt. "Farrelly joined l the R.N.Z.A.F at the age of 18 years. His two brothers are with the Bth, Army now fighting in Italy. We regret to announce the. death of Mr Charles Young;, which occurred. at Lake llotoma last Sunday. The late? Mr Young will be long remembered by Whakatane. residents for his' jovial nature and. never-fail-ing courtesy as 'mine, host' at the Commercial Hotel. He was noted for the high standard of efficiency he maintained and the excellent conduct of the hotel generally. A lull obituary notice, will appear in our next issue.
