LEARN-TO SWIM POOL

REPORT AND BALANCE SHEET

YEAR'S ACTIVITIES

Pursuing his policy of publicly accounting for every penny subscribed towards the Learn-to-Swim pool at Ohope. which he has sponsored so vigorously. Mr F. Mahy Sen. has submitted his annual report and balance sheet for the. past year.

He states that the pool proved as popular as ever, and that, when the benzine restrictions are l lifted he hopes to sec it crowded once again with would-be swimmers. He hopes that the. Surf Club would talc? a more, active interest, in the control of the pool as at present Hie adults were not taking an active part in its administration, the whole of the supervision being left to one. personPrior to the opening of the season the. Ohope Domain Board, provided labour to clear the growth from the vicinity after Avhich the actual cleaning was done by the children themselves, under Mr Mahy's supervision. The outlet of the paddling pool was found to be too small for quick emptying anil this defect was overcome by Mr G. Mahy's donation of earthenware pipes and Mr Goodwin's free labour installing them. Mr Len Thompson lias also agreed to do some, signwriting free of cost as a donation to the fund.. At Mr F. Mahy's application labour was again provided this year for cleaning the pool and painting it with a mixture, of spent carbide alum and 'i'at which should last the season. The feeding dam also necessitated repairing. As a result of a collection box at the. paddling pool 23/3 was raised for the. building of suitable seats in the vicinity. ft is intended to open the pool on Christmas Day while arrangements have also been completed for the Boys Baud to visit the beach and play near the pool on New Year's Day.
