AYhcn (he AVhakatane Harbour Board's scheme plan for the layout and development of (lie imuldat area at the rear of the Strand, was con-, sidered by the Borough Council last Monday evening, the Mayor, Mr B. S. Jiarry. reported that he had alread\' had .several interviews, with the Harbour Board chairman and secretary on the matter. The council thereupon decided as under: — (1) The plan ami scheme, 'when adopted, will bind this and future councils respecting the regular approval of plans of subdivision uncles' Section .'5:52 Municipal Corporations Act, urn. (2) The committee. recommends that the Harbour Board be advised that the council is not prepared to approve the plan in its present form and' requests:—(a) That the Board make, further provisions of reserves by increasing the area of the parking reserve (Section 2(5) by including Sections 1 to li);. li) anil 20, the title to be subject to right of way to give rear lots access, to Sections 11, 12. 11, 15, 21. 22 and live sections not included in the scheme' and unnumbered on the scheme plan. (b) That the proposed 111-acre waterfront recreation reserve area be meantime excluded from the scheme plan. (c) That the present right of way at the rear of the 1 SI rand be extended through Sections 1 and 2 and the proposed right of way behind Sections 1, 5 and (5 be deleted, which space may he used for an additional section. (d) That an undertaking be given by the Board (a) To make ample, provision to the satisfaction of the council to preserve, the drainage outlets tlirough the juudliats. (b) To connect the main street extending the Strand with McAlister Street.
