Notes and Diamond's Stating that people travelling out of New Zealand to Australia and making the return trip were, unable to take more than £50 worth of jewellery out of either country, Chief Rotarian J. Harris, speaking at the luncheon of the Napier Rotary (Hub on his impression of war time Australia, added that this preeaution was taken to prevent diamond smuggling. In both countries,- particularly Australia, the hoarding of notes was prevalent, and many people were endeavouring to convert notes into diamonds.
