LEAGUE OF MOTHERS

NOVEMBER MEETING

The monthly meeting of the League of Mothers was held in Knox Hall recently. Mrs Clartshore presided over a good attendance of members and friends. The afternoon,, being the. last meeting of tire year took the form of a social afternoon, arranged by Mrs Appleby. Mrs Gartshore gave an account of the interesting afternoon spent with the Te Teko Branch of the League at the invitation of. their president.. Miss Tweed, it being the eighth birthday of the Branch, and gave greetings and. the message ''He hath gone ber fore you'' as an inspiration to all members.

Seasonal gifts for the hospital were brought by members.

Mrs Larmer then delighted the audience with her violin solos "Dream Thoughts" and "Beethoven's Minuet," and an eneore number "Bizaria." She was accompanied by Mrs Appleby. Mrs Appleby then rendered the pianoforte solo ''Chopin's Polonaise in G Minor/' in her usual finished manner, which was greatly enjoyed by all present.

The thought for the month was given by Mrs Howat, "Three things

to give—.vims to the needy,, comforts to the sad, and apx)reciation to the worthy."

A short talk on her impressions of the ceremony of the Investiture of the V.C. on the parents of the late Te Moana Ngarimu, at Ruatoria, was given by Mrs Sullivan.

The president wished all members the compliments of the season,, and asked them all to try to eroate. as much happiness as possible in their own sphere in the world, to ensure a happy home coining for the boys overseas, when the hour of peace shall come.

Afternoon tea was dispensed by the committee, and the meeting closed, with the National Anthem.
