ST. JOHN AMBULANCE APPEAL
FEW people realise the remarkable record of service which the St. John Ambulance Association has to its credit in this district. Already one of the strongest volun-i teer movements in the county its more practical service; is unfortunately all too often ignored and lost sight of. The work of the association is however an endless task, which makes its equipment and its personnel ready and available at all times to minister to the needs of the sick, to relieve where humanly possible pain and suffering and to prepare and train its members just for those high sounding ideals. Few have not contacted the St. John service in this district so that it is not necessary to emphasise the splendid nature of the work that it is quietly rendering at all times and in all parts. Need we therefore remind the public of Whakatane to take thought on Friday next and to give liberally by way of donation and produce to the 'shop' in the Strand, the proceeds of which will constitute the Association's annual appeal for funds on the fiftieth anniversary of the most remarkable movement in the world. Help St. John Ambulance to help you.
