VOCATIONAL GUIDANCE
MEMBERS of the Whakatane Teachers Institute are exi tending an invitation to parents to attend their meeting on Wednesday next for the purpose of hearing addresses by Mr A. A. Kerr and Miss McNaught, officers of the Education Department who specialise in the subject of vocational guidance. It is hoped that the fullest advantage of their visit will be taken by parents of boys who are now api proaching school leaving age or are about to enter High School for training along more specified lines. The two officers will speak on the occupation avenues available to the. boys and girls respectively and will also be pleased^Ha meet parents personally at the school garden party on Thursday and thus give them the advantage of constructive private advice. Parents of boys and girls in Standards V or VI should realise that it is now high time for them to give serious thought to their future occupations instead of leaving the matter haphasardly to shape itself. There are all too many people groping and working in the dark with regard to their children's future. Vocational guidance is designed to deal with the multitudinous avenues of employment for boys and girls which are now open and such advice at this juncture must' vitally concern many parents in this district. An advertisement on the front page gives details as to meeting.
