NO TENDERS
TE TEKO PLANTATION FIRE-
WOOD
KATHER HELP THEMSELVES
The fact that the Whakatant County Council received no tenders for the purchase of fircAvood left on the old plantation site now that the Paper Mills had cut. out the timber, was mentioned at the No-
vember meeting,
Cr Hunter observed laconically that 'it was a fairly regular custom of farmers in the vicinity to collect the firewood themselves. Almost any Sunday they could be seen taking it away, it was no use calling for tenders when it could be had for nothing.
The chairman said tho. best thing was for the council to await the report of the P.W.D. officers who made a rccent inspection in connection with a proposed aerodrome site for Wha'katane. So far they had heard nothing.
