WINTER SHOW
MEETING OF ASSOCIATION
PLANS FOR GYMKHANA
Arguments for the maintenace of interest in the Whakatane Winter Show Association were emphasised at the annual meeting last Thursday evening when Mr W. Sullivan, M.P., presided over a fair, attendance.
''The Association's iinances,," declared Mr Sullivan in his annual report, "are in a very healthy condition the cash in bank amounting to £433 4s Id and the total assets standing at £1920." He Avent on to say that the. iirst debenture stock was now £770 only. Hall hire during the year together AA T ith the proceeds of the gymkhana run in conjunction with the R.S.A. had netted £81 7s lid. Membership subscriptions had totalled £51 19s including £KJ His from outstanding .subscriptions. He congratulated members on slioan iny, their continued interest in a practical manner in this respect, and added that the outgo'ing executive strongly faA'ourcd the running o! a further gymkhana on an even larger scale than last years. The question of amalgamating with the A. and P.-Society had been followed closely and he expected a satisfactory outcome to the in the near future. He concluded by thanking the public for their support during a difficult time and complimenting the secretary and the - executive on their interest and enthusiasm. The election of officers for the •ensuing year resulted:— Patrons: Messrs \Y. Sullivan, M.l\ and F. W. Doidge, M.P. President: Mr F. B. Cutler. Vice-president: Mr A. Hall. .■Secretary: Mr C. A. Head. Auditors: Messrs Prideaux and ißridger.
Gymkhana Recommended
Messrs F. J?. Cutler and A. Hall -endorsed the past president's suggestion that a new gymkhana should be planned lor the next season and it was decided that every endeavour be made, to co-operate in such an -event with the U.S.A. or tailing that organisation with the A. and.P. Society. The secretary was instructed to approach the ladies of the local Red Cross Association" to .carry out the. catering in the interests of their own funds and a subcommittee comprising the president (Mr F. B. Cutler), G. Caisley, W. "Sullivan, and H. G. Warren wait
