Japanese Language Taught
Japanese language papers were included in the leaving certificate examination of five Canberra (Australia) -High School students. Japanese, had been taught at. the school for eight years. It had been placed on the curriculum to encourage ehil-. dren to follow a diplomatic career. Hospital Presentation On .Thursday last Sister G. Wheatley who for some, years past has been a popular member of the. staff of the Wha'katane Hospital was the guest of honour at an informal gathering of the nursing staff who made her a presentation on the eve of her departure. Matron Runciman in handing Sister Wheatlev a breakfast set on behalf of the stall mentioned the efficient and sympathetic service she had always given and the lasting friendship she. had made with the nursing sisterhood of the. institution. She wished good luck and success; Responding Sister Wheatley expressed her deep appreciation of the gift and added that she. would never forget the pleasant associations she had had with the hospital.
