A MEAN THEFT
GROCERY PARCEL STOLEN
TWO WKKKS FOR MAORI
J. G. Mulholland and J. King, LP's, in the Whakatane Court last Wednesday morning a mid-dle-aged Maori, Keru'ru Hune, admitted the theft of a grocery parcel the property of Alfred Lenwood. Sergeant F.irrell .staled that Ilune had recently come to Te Tcko from Te Wliaili. On Thursday, November IS he had undertaken to deliver a parcel ol' groceries valued at los to the jjerson above named, but had taken it to Ruatolci where he disposed of it and made no effort whatsoever to inform the owner or of making restitution. "This is a particularly mean type, of theft," commented the. bench "par ticularly in view of the owner being in poor .circumstances and the number of coupons involved in the articles taken." Accused, was, sentenced to fourteen da3 r s' imprisonment.
