OTAKIRI DANCE

WOMEN'S INSTITUTE EFFORT

A very successful dance evening was lieltl in the Otakiri Hall on Saturday,, November 13„ under the auspices of the Women's Institute in aid of the Soldiers' Parcel Fund. Mr G. O. Lord, in his usual able manner, acted in the capacity of M.C.„ and during the. evening several items were given, including vocal duets by Mrs Morrison and Mr L. Cristall, and by Mrs and. Miss Armstrong, and a musical monologue by Mrs V. Peck. c Mrs J. A. Armstrong, •president of the Women's Institute, made a direct appeal to the public for financial help in the. good work the Institute is doing in the stocking and. packing of thei gift parcels which are so appreciated by our soldiers, and a Union Jack was taken round the hall to gather the harvest of notes and coins, which amounted to £17 14s The fund was further benefitted by the sale of numbers of dainty floral shoulder sprays made by Mrs V. Peck. A box of chocolates was rallied and Avon by Mrs E. Foote, and a dinner was won by Mrs M. Wood berry.
