Ensilage Making
Ensilage making was started by farmers in parts of the Waikato last week. Crops, which are reported to be fair and about tlie same as last year, would have been a good deal heavier if more adequate topdressing of pastures had been possible. One effect of the shortage oL' labour to assist with harvesting is li'kcb' to be a greater use of, such machinery as tractors and stackers. Contract cutting of hay and ensilage with tractors was fairly general in the Waikato. last season.
