GARDENING CIRCLE
The October meeting of the AVai-mana-Nukuhou AVomen's -institute, gardening circle Avas held at the home of Mrs J. Mitchell. All; mem* bers being present and Mrs John Addi.'jon presided. Mrs Cooper read the minutes of the previous meeting. A humorous reading Avas given by Mrs, Addison and Mrs Stevenson read an interesting paper on the growing of Tulips and Gladioli. A' competition held in the garden, finding rabbits and owls,, Avas won by Airs G. Mitchell, and Mrs King and Mrs C. AVylde tied for second place. The day's competitions were: Best flower, Mrs Stevenson 1: Mrs AVylde 2; Mrs G. Mitchell; 3'. Best vegetable, Mrs AVoolheld 1; Mrs Hughes 2; Mrs J. Mitchell 3. Bowl of shrubs, Mrs J. Mitchell 1; Mrs-Wool-field. 2; Mrs AVylde 3. Afternoon tea ay as served by Airs King and Mrs Woolfield. Mrs Addison thanked the judges, Mrs Ingle and Mrs Street, and also thanked Mrs Mitchell for the pleasant afternoon spent by all.
