*. ; BODY IN STREAM LITTLE GIKL'S Sx\D DEATH Whilst walking alongside the Poroporo stream at 1.30 p.m. on Tuesday near Whakatane, a Native school teacher, Miss A. Nu'ku, noticed the body of a young child floating downstream. Filtering the water she drew it to the. bank and proceeded to apply artificial respiration until relieved by Mr. Goodwin, headmaster of the Poroporo Native School. They maintained their efforts until the. arrival of a doctor who could only pronounce life to be extinct. The victim transpired to be a 2V 2 year old child, Margaret Hose Leabourn, daughter of Mr and Mrs A. Lcabourn of AVhite Pine Bush about a mile above the scene of the discovery. The inquest was opened on Tuesday.
