SERVICEMAN'S SETTLEMENT ACT
Sir, —Replying to "Labour Has a Plan" I confidently believe, the farmers are genuinely concerned ia the rehabilitating of returned sol-? diers on the land on terms which would allow them the opportunity of at least making a living on a comparative basis for equal services rendered with other sections of the community,, but. do not think this should be accomplished at the expense of any individual farmer or fanners.; any loss incurred in any; method adopted should be borne by the community as a whole and not by any particular section. If "Labour Has a Plan" had fallowed the press publications Closely he Avould have noticed that alternative constructive proposals were placed before the Government by the Farmers Union soon after the Bill was first introduced into Parliament. I wonder if the sale of a portion of waterfront land at Auckland recently reported, as being transferred at the rate of approximately £31,000 per acre is considered a fair price by Labour's plan ? Thanking you in anticipation. Yours etc., J. MULLINS.
